Shape Your Future
NDSU students are encouraged to collaborate with an advisor and develop a unique program of study that meets their specific interests.
One Program, Two Disciplines
Offered in partnership with Valley City State University, the program awards dual bachelor’s degrees, one in human development and family science from NDSU and another in elementary education from VCSU, all while staying on the NDSU campus.
Student Teaching Opportunities
Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the program includes hands-on student teaching experiences in real-world settings under the supervision of an experienced educator.
Professional Development and Leadership
Broaden your horizons and expand your experience outside of the classroom through student organizations, including the HDFS Club, the Elementary Education Club, the North Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children, the North Dakota Family and Consumer Sciences Association and the North Dakota Education Association. Participation in these organizations help build strong connections with peers and industry leaders while building on skills learned in class.

Facilities like the Evelyn Morrow Lebedeff Hall and the Family Life Center, along with opportunities in Fargo-Moorhead’s vibrant community, provide the perfect environment to grow as a teacher and leader.
